5th month check-up
Today we went for my routine monthly check at the doctor's. As usual, I was thrilled to do the scan. The baby looks bigger already and couldn't fit the screen so the scan was done to show the different body parts one at a time.

We asked the doctor to check on the gender again just to make sure. We looked a long time and it really can't be a finger or two sticking in the wrong places. So that's that. A happy baby boy.

The baby, as usual was moving a lot as we did the scan. We could see him waving his tiny fingers, his little hands were here and there and his legs were seen to be fully outstretched. The doctor commented that he's got long legs. I'm pleased about it. His dad and I don't have long limbs!

We also saw his face formation, his ears, closed eyes, nose and even the nostrils! He's got big eye sockets so there's a possibility he's gonna have big eyes. Frankly, I can't wait to see the baby! :)

The doctor asked if I've started to feel the baby move and I told him he's rather active. Especially so in the night when I'm trying to sleep. He said I should eat then because the baby is probably hungry. Doc also said I should train the baby to sleep when I do because his current pattern will continue after he's born. So training starts tonight!

After months of weight loss, I've finally gained back some. Today's weight check showed that I've gained 3.6kg from last month. And that puts me about just 2kg over my weight before I got pregnant.

So that's it for today, both mommy and baby are doing fine. And the daddy, I think he's thrilled :)

my little girl was active the first time we scan her but it was way too early for me to feel anything but since i've been here, she doesn't move much. it's either the malaysia food OR she's missing daddy. poor thing....i think she will be active again once i'm back home. ;)

5 months already!
How time has flown...I still remember the day I sat in the doctor's office hearing him say I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Today, I'm already 5 months pregnant.

The months leading up to this day have been tough. But I think the worst of the morning sickness period is over. Nowadays I'm feeling a lot more energy in me and less of an "invalid". Although not 100% comfortable, I'm beginning to enjoy pregnancy.

From the various ultrasounds done, we've been lucky to see what looks like a baby boy growing healthily and oh boy, very actively too! He's been moving a lot and loves to kick about whenever I'm about to sleep. It amazes me how he has such perfect timing!

Many have asked what I've been craving to eat, whether I demand for bizarre stuff at the oddest hours. Well, I don't have any of that. OK, maybe once in a blue moon, I do. I can only think of the two times I craved for food late in the night - cucur udang and Pudu's chee cheong fun! Other than that, I don't have any big appetite like how pregnant women are supposed to have.

Our next check-up at the O&G is this weekend. Everytime it's time for my monthly check, I am very excited to see the ultrasound. I love seeing how the baby looks and moves. I guess this is one of the many joy of carrying around a tummy!

Haha.. cravings or not, i'm just glad that she started to "eat". It was indeed a trying time in the 1st trimester. But we have pulled thru pretty well. And we are just enjoying the moment as well as the karate kid inside.

Those who are trying to have a family or have fears starting a family... well don't cos this is the best gift anyone would ever dream of.

Oppss.. i just realised this doesn't look like a comment but rather a mini blog.

Sorry baby for blog-crashing !!

First trimester is something to remember...
I was hoping to be able to update this blog with every little progress along the pregnancy. But I've been having bad morning sickness that lasts all day for months now. Sometimes I can't even get off the bed but I've since recovered from those times and now able to move along.

We're now into our 13th week and I hope to get only better.

Won't be a long update for now...when I'm up and about again I hope so will this baby blog!

I'm pregnant!
Last week I found out that I'm pregnant. It came as a pleasant surprise although I spent the first few seconds dazed and feeling like I was in a dream. Before I could get my mind back to reality in the doctor's office, the doctor went straight on to calculate how long I have been pregnant and when I'm due to deliver.

As it turns out, I'm slightly over 5 weeks pregnant and due at the end of August this year. We haven't been expecting a baby but the arrival of the baby is definitely considered God's special gift to us.

I called Ray immediately to tell him the news. I think he was just as dazed in the first few seconds because the line went still and quiet. But soon, he came back alive on the line. I probably caught him at the wrong time to drop such news on him! :)

This happened at about noon on a working Friday. The doctor had given me half a day off to go home to get some rest (or was it to get the news to sink in our heads?). He insisted that I take home the pregnancy test tube to show it off, along with some prescribed supplements. Trust me, I ain't showing off any pregnancy kit! It's gross, ain't it?

So off I went home, coping with the news and slowly feeling the joy and excitement creep in. The fear of labour has yet to start and I'm glad for it. I slept most of the afternoon till Ray got home. He was so sweet...be bought me a bunch of red carnations tied with a pretty pink ribbon. It now still sits on our bedside table.

Starting immediately, I was banned from feeding and handling the cats in any way. Ray has also been extra attentive in doing everything else and all I did was sit down or lie down to rest. I wasn't feeling that sick but I sure was very tired and uncomfortable. That was what sent me to the doctor in the first place - exhaustion and nausea.

It's been a few days...so what have I been through? Lots of belching, some tummy discomfort that sent some unpleasant vomiting sensation up my throat, and lots and lots of sleep! I could sleep for hours and when I wake up, I still yawn. It's unbelievable.

We bought a book on pregnancy and I've been reading up. It helps to know that some of the things I've been going through are normal. It puts Ray and me much at ease. I can't imagine going to the doctor for every little discomfort only to feel like an idiot to find out it's "one of those things" of pregnancy :)

Anyway, it's late...I should get some rest now.

I'm so happy for you.
Look after yourself & the dearest little baby that is growing each day inside you.

I got this from my Mum's prayer book. It's a Prayer of an Expectant Mother.

"Lord, may the child that lies close to my heart grow strong and perfect.
Give me the grace, dear Lord, to be a wise and loving mother.
Mother of all mothers, guide and protect me in my pregnancy.
Help me to keep my mind pure and free from sin so that I may breathe and weave holiness and lovingness into the soul of my child."

Take care. :)

Congratulations again! Wow, talking about being a fast worker. You and Ray sure got down to work real fast! :-)

You must be feeling so excited, knowing that the baby is growing inside you. I remember when I found out about my first pregnancy. It was on Christmas Eve 1994. I almost named my girl, Eva but didn't. My first 2 were born in August too, less than a year apart.

Enjoy your pregnancy and all the pampering from Ray!
